(CNA) - Contract manufacturer Compal benefited from growth momentum in servers and the effect of personal computer (PC) shipments at the end of the quarter, announcing today that its consolidated revenue for June reached NT$95.854 billion, an increase of 36% month-on-month and 58.4% year-on-year, marking a new high in nearly 45 months.
Compal's consolidated revenue for the second quarter of this year was NT$238.295 billion, up 18.4% quarter-on-quarter and 32.1% year-on-year. Accumulated revenue for the first half of the year was NT$439.598 billion, an increase of 15.8% year-on-year.
Compal shipped 2.4 million notebook computers in June, an increase of 400,000 units from the previous month. Notebook shipments for the second quarter were 6.2 million units, up 5.1% quarter-on-quarter and down 12.7% year-on-year, in line with original expectations.
Compal told CNA that the server business performed best in the second quarter, with high double-digit growth. PC business also showed good performance due to increased average selling prices. The smart device business declined in the second quarter.
Looking ahead to the third quarter, Compal indicated that server momentum will continue, with high double-digit growth expected to be maintained. The PC business will remain stable, with shipment volume forecast to be flat or slightly up quarter-on-quarter, and revenue expected to grow slightly.
