(CNA) - U.S. President Trump stated on the 8th that the ceasefire agreement between the U.S. and Iran "has ended," triggering tension in European and American stock markets. Taiwan's stock market, with semiconductor stocks rising against the trend today, saw an intra-day increase of over 300 points, briefly returning to the 46,000-point level, followed by a battle between bulls and bears, presenting a volatile pattern.
As of around 10:43 AM, the TAIEX index was up 1.14 points at 45,735.55 points. The transaction value was approximately NT$544.257 billion.
Among the four major weighted stocks, TSMC fell by a maximum of NT$35 to NT$2,430 intra-day; MediaTek fell by a maximum of NT$45 to NT$3,950; Delta Electronics rose by a maximum of NT$50 to NT$1,935; and Hon Hai rose by a maximum of NT$2.5 to NT$240.
The passive component sector performed strongly, with Yageo rising by more than 6% intra-day to NT$948, leading the sector higher. Walsin Technology hit the daily limit, while Lih-Hwa, Walsin, Holy Stone, and Darfon Electronics all saw gains exceeding half a daily limit.
The memory sector was strong, with Nanya Technology, Etron Technology, and Etron Technology hitting the daily limit, while Nanya Technology rose by over 7%.
Guotai Securities Investment Trust Fund Manager Liang En-yi analyzed that as the third quarter begins, Taiwan stocks are entering the traditional peak season for ex-dividend rights. Affected by profit-taking selling pressure and the evaporation of ex-dividend points, the market is expected to maintain a high-level volatile pattern in the short term.
Liang En-yi believes that although the market environment is full of variables, the long-term growth trend of AI remains unchanged. Furthermore, the third quarter has always been an important starting point for the electronics industry's inventory buildup and new product shipments in the second half of the year. With the continuous rise in demand for AI servers, high-speed computing, and advanced manufacturing processes, the market generally expects the business momentum of related companies to continue, providing strong support for Taiwan stocks.
