(CNA, Hsinchu, July 9) The new academicians of the Academia Sinica were announced today. Wei-Yang Wu, Senior Vice President of TSMC, was elected as an academician of the Academia Sinica, making him the third R&D giant in TSMC's history to receive this highest academic honor, following in the footsteps of Dr. Bon-Kae Lin and Dr. Chen-Hua Yu.

Former TSMC Senior Vice Presidents of R&D, Dr. Bon-Kae Lin and Dr. Chen-Hua Yu, were elected as academicians of the Academia Sinica in 2014 and 2024, respectively.

Dr. Wu, an IEEE Fellow for his leading research in complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process integration, has published 52 papers and holds 72 patents in the field of semiconductor technology.

Concurrently, Dr. Wu participated in the development of TSMC's CMOS technologies from 0.13 micrometer, 90 nanometer, and 65 nanometer down to 28 nanometer, and successfully developed and launched 28nm low-power, 16nm, 7nm, and 3nm technologies. He is currently responsible for the development of TSMC's 14nm platform technology, making outstanding contributions to TSMC's advancement in leading-edge process R&D. (Editor: Lin Shu-yuan) 1150709
