(Central News Agency, Taipei, July 9) National Chengchi University (NCCU) and the National Palace Museum (NPM) signed a renewed memorandum of understanding today. In the future, cooperation will expand to the cultivation of foreign language tour guide talent. The two parties plan to jointly offer courses starting in September, arranging for students to conduct on-site visits and practical guiding sessions to nurture talent with foreign language proficiency and professional museum expertise.

NCCU issued a press release today stating that NCCU and the NPM held a signing ceremony for the renewal of their memorandum of understanding, signed by NCCU President Li Tsai-yen and NPM Director-General Shiao Tsung-huang. In the future, NCCU's foreign language education and cross-cultural expertise will be combined with the NPM's collection research, museum education, and guiding resources to jointly promote the cultivation of foreign language tour guide talent, cross-cultural practical courses, and cultural education exchange.

NCCU President Li Tsai-yen stated that NCCU has been actively promoting the integration of interdisciplinary humanities and technology in recent years. He looks forward to deepening cooperation with the NPM to inject NCCU's strengths in creative media, digital communication, information technology, and social sciences into museum exhibitions and educational outreach. Together, they will develop diverse teaching models that embody artistic, cultural, and historical significance, nurturing humanities and history talent with an international perspective and interdisciplinary capabilities.

NPM Director-General Shiao Tsung-huang mentioned that the NPM and NCCU have maintained a long-term good cooperative relationship. Since signing the memorandum of understanding in 2019, they have jointly promoted numerous collaborations in museum exhibitions, academic research, and digital education. Examples include the joint implementation of the Ministry of Education's "Artful Journey" project and the co-organization of AI-oriented digital education workshops. Last year, they collaborated on forward-looking experimental research, including smart devices, demonstrating the collaborative energy of interdisciplinary innovation between museums and universities.

The renewed memorandum of understanding between NCCU and the NPM also expands the scope of cooperation from museum exhibitions, academic research, and educational outreach to the cultivation of foreign language tour guide talent. The two parties plan to jointly offer the course "NPM Foreign Language Guided Tours and Cross-Cultural Practice: Korean/Arabic" starting in September of this year. This course will include on-site visits and practical guiding sessions, with lectures delivered by NPM researchers, experienced volunteer guides, and NCCU faculty, aiming to cultivate talent with foreign language proficiency and professional museum expertise.

In addition to cultivating foreign language tour guide talent, NCCU stated that the two parties will continue to expand interdisciplinary cooperation. The NPM is expected to participate in the course "Re-creation of Traditional Exquisite Art - NPM Project Practice" offered by the NCCU Research Center for Innovation and Creativity in the first semester of the 115th academic year. This course will combine NPM collection artifacts, historical stories, and cultural translation methods to guide students in using digital technology and multimedia creation to explore innovative applications of cultural heritage.
