Taishan "Good Oil Blend" Exceeds Carcinogen Limits; Taichung City Government Re-tests Chung Lien Oil

(Central News Agency, Taichung, July 9) Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen said today that "Taishan Good Oil Blend 0.6L" is a mixture of four oils, mainly soybean oil from Chung Lien Oil Corporation. Although Chung Lien's self-testing did not show exceedances, the Taichung City Government has sent personnel to conduct further sampling and agrees with the precautionary product recall.

Lu Shiow-yen told reporters that testing takes time. For precautionary and safety reasons, she also requested and agreed with the voluntary precautionary recall. During this period, for the sake of public health, everyone should move in this direction, prioritizing strict attention to public health rather than being careless.

The Food and Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare stated on July 8 that it had received a report from the Changhua County Department of Health, indicating that during an inspection of Taishan Enterprise Co., Ltd.'s factory, Taishan voluntarily provided a self-testing notice showing that its "Taishan Good Oil Blend" product detected exceedances of the carcinogen benzo(a)pyrene (BaP). This batch of products has an expiration date of July 25, 2027, and 642 cases have been shipped. However, distributors have been asked to conduct a precautionary recall.
