Netizens posted on the social platform Threads today with a video showing an employee at a chain fried chicken restaurant in Taichung's Taiping District standing inside a metal bucket full of ingredients and stepping on them, claiming to be "exfoliating the chicken skin," which has caused widespread discussion online.

The Taichung City Government stated today via a press release that regarding public reports of a fried chicken business in Taiping District allegedly stepping on ingredients, the Taichung City Food and Drug Safety Authority has completed the record and will dispatch personnel to investigate.

The city government pointed out that if the investigation finds that the business has violated the "Good Manufacturing Practice and Sanitation Standards for Food," they will be ordered to improve within a specified period. If they fail to improve upon re-inspection by the deadline, they will be fined between NT$60,000 and NT$200 million in accordance with the "Food Safety and Sanitation Management Act."

The business issued a statement today, stating that after investigation, the chicken skin in the video was discarded material and not for sale, and they deeply apologize for causing misunderstanding and unease to the public. The employee in the video has had their labor contract terminated in accordance with the law, and legal proceedings have been initiated.
