(CNA Dubai, July 9, Comprehensive Foreign News) Missile alerts sounded in the Persian Gulf Arab nations of Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar early this morning, warning of Iranian attacks, following a new round of US airstrikes on Iran.

According to reports from the Associated Press and Agence France-Presse, Bahrain's Ministry of Interior stated that air raid sirens sounded in Bahrain today. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had earlier vowed to respond to US airstrikes on Iran.

Bahrain's Ministry of Interior posted on social platform X: "The sirens have sounded. Citizens and residents are urged to remain calm and proceed to the nearest safe location."

An AFP correspondent in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, reported hearing explosions in Manama today.

Kuwait's military announced today that its air defense systems are intercepting "hostile missile and drone attacks."

The Kuwaiti military posted on X: "The Army Chief of Staff stated that the explosions heard are due to the air defense system intercepting hostile attacks," but did not specify the source of the attacks.

Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar have not reported any casualties or damage at this time.

Iran launched attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait yesterday. The IRGC stated at the time that they attacked US military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait yesterday, following a wave of military strikes by the US on Iran in response to an attack on a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Pakistan have both called for "maximum restraint from all parties." Pakistan is a key mediator in US-Iran negotiations.
