(Central News Agency, Reporter Yu Hsiao-han, Taipei, September 9) Due to the impact of Typhoon Bavi, the Maritime and Port Bureau announced today that some maritime routes will be suspended on September 9 and 10. Passengers are urged to take advantage of available sailings to return to Taiwan in advance and to postpone travel to the outlying islands.
According to observations by the Central Weather Administration, the center of Typhoon Bavi was located at 18.4 degrees North latitude and 129.8 degrees East longitude at 8 a.m. today, moving northwest at a speed of 18 kilometers per hour. The Administration expects to issue a sea typhoon warning this afternoon.
Affected by Bavi, maritime routes have been adjusted. The Maritime and Port Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications issued a notice today stating that the Keelung-Matsu route will have partial suspensions on September 9 and full suspensions on September 10 and 11, with normal sailings expected on September 12. The Kaohsiung-Penghu route's scheduled sailing for September 10 has been moved to September 9, with suspensions on September 10 and 12, and no sailings on September 11.
The Budai-Penghu route will have partial sailings moved up on September 9, with full suspensions from September 10 to 11. The Jiangjun-Dongji route will have no sailings on September 9 and suspensions from September 10 to 12. The Anping-Magong route will have no sailings from September 9 to 12. The Magong-Wang'an-Qimei-Kaohsiung route will have no sailings from September 9 to 12. The Donggang-Xiaoliuqiu route will have partial suspensions on September 9 and full suspensions from September 10 to 11. The Yanpu-Xiaoliuqiu route will have full suspensions from September 9 to 11.
The Maritime and Port Bureau stated that the Fugang-Green Island, Chenggong-Green Island, Fugang-Lanyu, and Houbihu-Lanyu routes will be fully suspended from September 9 to 11. Sailing status on September 12 will be re-evaluated based on sea and weather conditions.
Regarding the Mini-Three Links routes, the Maritime and Port Bureau said that the Fuao-Langqi route will be suspended from September 9 to 11. The Baisha-Huangqi route will have partial suspensions on September 9 and full suspensions from September 10 to 11. The Kinmen-Shijing and Kinmen-Wutong routes are expected to operate normally on September 9.
The Maritime and Port Bureau urges passengers to take advantage of available sailings to return to Taiwan in advance and to postpone travel to the outlying islands to avoid being stranded due to subsequent flight cancellations.
