(CNA reporter Huang Chao-wen, Taipei, Sept. 9) As Typhoon Bavi approaches, the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) announced on Facebook that to facilitate the transportation of passengers from the Hualien-Taitung area returning north early due to the typhoon, standing tickets will be available for the EMU3000 series New Taroko Express trains on the Eastern Main Line for the entire day today.

According to the Central Weather Administration website, as of 8 a.m. today, the center of Typhoon Bavi was located 1010 kilometers east-southeast of Eluanbi, moving northwest at a speed of 15 to 18 kilometers per hour. The maximum wind speed near the center is 51 meters per second, with a 7-级 wind radius of 380 kilometers.

The TRA announced its latest passenger transport arrangements on Facebook today, activating an emergency response mechanism to accommodate passengers from the Hualien-Taitung area returning north early due to the typhoon.

The TRA stated that standing tickets will be available for the EMU3000 series New Taroko Express trains on the Eastern Main Line for the entire day today to increase capacity and assist passengers in their smooth return journey.
