(CNA reporter Tsao Ya-yen New Taipei City, July 9) Typhoon Bavi is approaching with force. New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih inspected typhoon preparedness work in Jinshan and Wanli today. Regarding whether work and school will be suspended tomorrow, Hou Yu-ih stated that Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, and Taoyuan will communicate thoroughly and an announcement will be made before 8 PM.

Typhoon Bavi is expected to issue a sea warning this afternoon. Hou Yu-ih, who inspected the embankment improvement project from Zhongfu Bridge to Zhongfu Bridge on the Maling River in Wanli District this morning, said that Typhoon Shanshan in 2024 caused flooding in the Jinshan and Wanli areas, with overflows particularly in the Yuantan, Jinbaoli, and Huang Rivers. Most of the reconstruction work has been completed, and the remediation project is still in the bidding and construction phase.

Hou Yu-ih said that Typhoon Bavi is approaching with force, so he specifically visited the Yuantan and Maling Rivers today to understand the typhoon preparedness and river dredging status, hoping to minimize the impact and damage of Typhoon Bavi.

Regarding whether work and school will be suspended tomorrow, Hou Yu-ih stated that Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, and Taoyuan will conduct thorough discussions and communication, and they will officially report to the citizens before 8 PM. The city government will also monitor the typhoon's dynamics at all times, as disaster prevention preparedness is the top priority. (Editor: Li Hengshan) 1150709
