CPBL All-Star Game Roster Finalized: Lin Shih-Shiang and Hsu Chi-Hung Withdraw Due to Injury

The Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) All-Star Game will take place on July 18 and 19 at the Taipei Dome. Today, the league announced the rosters for the Skill Challenge and Home Run Derby, along with updates to the All-Star Game lineup. Pitcher Lin Shih-Shiang will not participate due to injury and is replaced by Li Hsin-Ying. Infielder Hsu Chi-Hung has also withdrawn due to injury, and no replacement will be named.

The CPBL All-Star Game will be held at the Taipei Dome on the 18th and 19th. The Skill Challenge participants were announced today. The 'Laser-Accurate Arm' event on the 18th will test outfielders' arm strength and throwing accuracy with long throws from the outfield to home plate. Participants include Wang Nien-Hao, Chen Sheng-Ping, Ho Pin-Shih-Jung, and Kuo Tien-Hsin. Each player gets five throws, aiming for designated scoring zones on a net behind home plate. The player with the highest total score wins.

The 'Connect-Hit Battle' on the 19th tests batters' hitting precision. Pitchers from both teams will take on the role of hitters to compete for the title of 'Connection Master.' Participants include Nivaldo Rodriguez, Li Hsin-Ying, Chiang Kuo-Hao, and Li Chao. Each player has 12 at-bats, with a unique 3x3 grid of numbers. Players must hit the ball into designated zones to claim squares, and the one who completes the most horizontal, vertical, or diagonal lines wins.

The 'Monopoly Relay Race' will be held on both days, featuring teams composed of players, cheerleaders, and mascots. Starting from home plate, teams complete designated tasks around the field and race back to home plate. The first team to return wins.

The Home Run Derby spans two days, with the preliminary round on the 18th and the final on the 19th. Due to some players declining participation, the final roster was determined after teams recommended new candidates. The final participants are Shen Hao-Wei, Sung Sheng-Jui, Tseng Yu-Ping, Wang Cheng-Hsun, Sung Po-Han, Li Hsun-Chieh, Fan Kuo-Chen, and Tseng Sung-En. Each player has two minutes of hitting time, with one 60-second timeout allowed. The top four players with the most home runs in the preliminaries advance to the final. The final follows the same rules, and the player with the most home runs becomes the 2024 Home Run Derby champion.
