According to Central News Agency, the drama 'Taiwan in Stories' has recently received official filming authorization from the Baishatun Gongtian Temple, with veteran singer Chang Hsiu-ching cast as the lead, portraying Mazu. Despite having no prior acting experience, Chang is determined to faithfully convey Mazu's compassionate and world-saving spirit. She has also announced that her entire performance fee will be donated to charitable causes.

Chang Hsiu-ching transformed into the benevolent Mazu of Baishatun for the drama. At today's press conference, she appeared in full costume, which weighs approximately 5 kilograms. Overcome with emotion, she admitted, 'After more than 40 years in the entertainment industry, I’ve never been this nervous. This is my first time acting in a historical costume drama, and I’m playing such a sacred figure—Mazu Niangniang.'

Chang candidly shared her mixed feelings of honor and anxiety about portraying Mazu. Before filming, she approached the role with reverence and devotion, hoping to fully embody Mazu’s compassionate spirit and live up to the expectations of both the deity and her devotees. She also revealed that she would donate her entire performance fee. 'I was shocked when I received the offer,' Chang said. 'I couldn’t believe it. I even went to the temple to ask Mazu—am I really capable? Should I decline? But Mazu clearly told me: You must do it.'

Regarding this role, Chang said her late mother would surely be proud, and her father is overjoyed. 'Now everyone in Hengchun knows I’m playing Mazu Niangniang—he’s been proudly telling everyone he meets,' she said with a smile. In closing, Chang expressed gratitude: 'I’m not a professional actress, so I hope everyone can be understanding. I will give my absolute best to fulfill this sacred mission.'
