The Economic Development Bureau of Taoyuan City announced today the opening of applications for the 'Subsidy Program for Regulated (Designated) Factories to Apply for Improvement.' With a total budget of NT$10 million, the program aims to support regulated and designated factories in enhancing fire safety. Applications will be accepted until April 30, 2027, or until the allocated funds are fully disbursed.
The Taoyuan City Government's Economic Development Bureau stated that to encourage unregistered and designated factories to accelerate legalization, the city is allocating NT$10 million from its guidance fund to subsidize fire safety improvements. Eligible applicants are factories in Taoyuan City that have been approved as regulated or designated factories and must complete fire safety equipment inspection reports and pass verification within the improvement period. Each enterprise may apply for only one factory.
The subsidy is reimbursed based on actual expenses according to factory scale, with three tiers: factories with total building area under 500 square meters can receive up to NT$100,000; those between 500 and under 1,000 square meters up to NT$150,000; and those 1,000 square meters or larger up to NT$200,000. Subsidy payments will be disbursed after deducting 10% for income tax withholding as required by law.
Applications will be reviewed in writing on a first-come, first-served basis. Required documents include an application form, a copy of the responsible person’s ID, a copy of the bank account cover, a receipt for payment, copies of construction contracts or quotations and receipts, and the fire department’s acceptance notice for the factory’s fire safety equipment inspection report. The inspection result must be compliant, and the reported area must fully cover the scope approved in the improvement plan. Approved applicants can expect disbursement within approximately one month.
The bureau reminds applicants that reviews will be conducted in order of receipt, and the program may close early once the budget is exhausted. Submitting false documents will result in recovery of subsidies and potential criminal liability. Additionally, under the Income Tax Act, the full amount of the subsidy must be declared as other income in the year received and is subject to taxation. More information is available on the Economic Development Bureau’s official website. (Editor: Liang Chun-te)
