DPP Changhua County Branch Nominates Neighborhood Chief Chang Cheng-yueh for Yuanlin Mayor

TAICHUNG, July 13 (Central News Agency) - The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Changhua County Branch has officially nominated Zhang Zhengyue, neighborhood chief of Daming Village in Yuanlin City, as its mayoral candidate. Chen Su-yueh, DPP's candidate for Changhua County Magistrate, stated today that Zhang has earned public recognition for his dedicated community service. Zhang emphasized his vision of 'repairing the city' to revitalize Yuanlin.

The DPP Changhua County Branch held a press conference this morning to announce Zhang's nomination. Attendees included Zhang Zhengyue, Chen Su-yueh, DPP Changhua County Branch Director Hsieh Tsui-ping, and DPP-affiliated Changhua County Councilor Chang Hsin-chien.

Zhang, who owns and operates an auto repair shop, said he accepted the party's nomination upon receiving the call, embracing the responsibility with confidence in victory. With over 30 years of experience in vehicle maintenance, Zhang explained: 'When a car has issues, you open the hood to locate the fault. Yuanlin is like a large vehicle carrying 120,000 citizens, currently facing challenges like flooding—it needs comprehensive inspection and renewal.'

Chen Su-yueh praised Zhang for his hands-on efforts in resolving neighborhood flooding issues, highlighting his down-to-earth approach and long-term involvement in public welfare. She noted that Zhang has served as head of parent-teacher associations and charitable organizations, making him a trustworthy and acceptable candidate for citizens.

Hsieh Tsui-ping stated that the party's executive committee individually consulted local representatives in Yuanlin before deciding on Zhang's nomination. Regarding the yet-undetermined candidate for Hemei Township mayor, the party is still searching for a suitable nominee.

In the Yuanlin mayoral race, the Kuomintang (KMT) will field Changhua County Councilor Tu Chun-jen as its candidate. (Edited by Li Ming-tsung) 1150713
