(Taipei, April 13 - Reporter Yang Yao-ju) Parliamentarians from New South Wales, Australia, have arrived in Taiwan for an official visit. During their stay, they will meet with relevant government officials and conduct site visits to better understand Taiwan's advancements in national development, cross-strait affairs, healthcare, labor, technology, and transportation, aiming to identify potential areas for future collaboration between Taiwan and Australia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) released a press statement this afternoon, announcing that Anna Watson, Deputy Minister for Roads and Regional Transport and Member of the Legislative Assembly, and Natasha Maclaren-Jones, Shadow Minister for Families and Communities and Member of the Legislative Council, both from New South Wales, Australia, have been invited to visit Taiwan from April 12 to 17. MOFA expressed its sincere welcome.
According to MOFA, the visiting delegation will meet with officials from relevant government departments during their stay to exchange views on issues of mutual concern and regional developments. Through site visits, they will deepen their understanding of Taiwan's achievements in national development, cross-strait relations, healthcare, labor, science and technology, and transportation, exploring potential areas for future cooperation between Taiwan and Australia. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly enhancing friendship with New South Wales.
MOFA emphasized that Australia is an important partner of Taiwan in the Indo-Pacific region, sharing common values such as freedom and democracy. Both sides maintain close exchanges in economic and trade, cultural, technological, energy, and whole-of-society resilience matters. MOFA expressed hope that, building on the existing solid foundation, the friendly relationship between Taiwan and Australia will continue to grow, jointly promoting peace, prosperity, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
