(Central News Agency, Paris, 13th - Comprehensive Foreign Report) Ukraine and nine countries announced today the formation of an alliance to protect Europe from ballistic missile threats, drawing on Ukraine's experience of over four years of resistance against Russian aggression.
According to an Associated Press report, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy participated in talks in Paris, France. In a joint statement, the ten nations said: "Our goal is to establish a common ballistic missile defense capability for Europe."
Zelenskyy has sought the assistance of 24 leaders in developing measures to counter Russian missile attacks. Russian missiles have repeatedly devastated Ukraine, prompting other European nations to remain vigilant against Russia's expanding ambitions on the continent.
Zelenskyy, alongside leaders from Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, emphasized their recognition of the "growing threat posed by ballistic missiles." Ballistic missiles are more difficult to intercept than cruise missiles or drones.
The statement reads: "We believe a comprehensive solution is needed to protect Europe, through an integrated missile defense architecture that deters and eliminates future missile threats. We value the unique experience Ukraine has accumulated in resisting Russia's war of aggression."
The statement did not mention a timeline for establishing the defense system, only indicating that other countries may still join the initiative. (Translation: Lu Ying-tzu) 1150714
