(Taipei, 13th - Reporter Wang Shu-fen) Typhoon Bavi has caused agricultural damage in certain areas. According to statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture, as of 11:00 a.m. today, the total agricultural loss amounts to NT$22.71 million, with Miaoli County suffering the highest loss at NT$15.72 million.

In a press release, the Ministry of Agriculture stated that, based on data compiled by the Agricultural and Food Agency from municipal and county governments, the estimated damage to agricultural products and private agricultural facilities reached NT$22.71 million by 11:00 a.m.

The Ministry detailed the damage across counties and cities: Miaoli County reported the highest loss at NT$15.72 million (69% of total), followed by New Taipei City at NT$2.03 million, Hsinchu County at NT$1.67 million, Taichung City at NT$1.28 million, and Taoyuan City at NT$1.21 million.

Crop losses were estimated at NT$20.33 million, affecting 226 hectares with a damage rate of 22%. This equates to 50 hectares of unrecoverable harvest area. The most severely affected crop was persimmon, with losses amounting to NT$12.55 million, followed by jujube, first-season rice, bitter gourd, and edible tomatoes.

Private agricultural infrastructure losses totaled NT$2.38 million, including NT$2.28 million from farmland erosion and burial—mainly due to 1.8 hectares of farmland erosion in New Taipei City and 0.6 hectares of farmland burial in Hsinchu County. Agricultural facility damage amounted to NT$100,000, primarily due to plastic sheeting damage in greenhouse structures in Taoyuan City.
