(Central News Agency, Oita Prefecture, April 13 — Comprehensive foreign media report) This morning, a knife attack occurred at a TSUTAYA video rental store in Saiki City, Oita Prefecture, Japan, leaving four men and women injured — one critically, one moderately, and two lightly. The suspect was arrested at the scene.
According to reports from NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) and Oita Broadcasting, at around 9:40 a.m. today, local fire authorities in Oita Prefecture received an emergency call reporting that a man had been stabbed in the right abdomen with a kitchen knife in the parking lot of a TSUTAYA video rental store in Saiki City.
The fire department stated that four individuals, including the man stabbed in the right abdomen, were urgently transported to hospitals for treatment.
The fire department reported that an 80-year-old man sustained moderate injuries, a 60-year-old man suffered critical injuries, and a 50-year-old man and a teenager (female) sustained minor injuries. Fortunately, none of the victims are in life-threatening condition.
The store reported that three people fled into the shop and took shelter during the incident.
Police arrested 44-year-old Hiroshi Noshita, whose address and occupation are currently unknown, on suspicion of violating the Firearm and Sword Control Law. Authorities are now conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances and motive behind the attack. (Translation: Li Jing) 1150713
