(CNA reporter Hsieh Ching-wen, Taipei, 14th) The 24-player roster for Chinese Taipei's baseball delegation at the Asian Games was announced today. It includes Cheng Tsung-Che, currently in Major League Baseball, and Hsu Jo-Hsi, who has been reported with health issues. The Chinese Taipei Baseball Association (CTBA) stated, "Up to the time of roster submission, these situations had not yet occurred. We will continue to monitor player conditions and make adjustments accordingly."
The 24-player roster for the baseball event at the Nagoya Asian Games was announced today, featuring 13 players from American, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese professional leagues. Cheng Tsung-Che, an outfielder with the Boston Red Sox, was promoted to the MLB for the first time this season at the end of June and has continued to play. Meanwhile, Hsu Jo-Hsi, a pitcher with Japan's Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, has not appeared in any games since late June, when health concerns were reported, and surgery has reportedly been discussed as a possible treatment option.
The submission of the Asian Games baseball team roster was completed before the team's June departure for the Haarlem Baseball Week in the Netherlands. The CTBA explained, "At the time of seeking player consent and submitting the roster, Cheng had not yet been promoted to the MLB, and Hsu's health condition was still under evaluation. All 24 players on the list expressed their willingness to participate and were selected accordingly."
The CTBA stated, "We understand that playing in the MLB is a rare opportunity, and we will continuously monitor each player's personal situation for adjustments. Regarding Hsu Jo-Hsi, we are maintaining ongoing communication with the SoftBank team and are aware that surgery is a possible option. If Hsu is unable to compete due to health issues, we can replace him through the official procedures." (Editor: Lung Po-an) 1150714
