The Taichung City Agriculture Bureau held the 'Taichung Fenghua Domestic Honey and Agricultural Specialty Products Marketing Promotion Event' today, honoring 25 beekeepers selected through evaluation. On the 22nd, a marketing event will be held in New Taipei City to introduce high-quality domestic honey to its citizens.
Guided by the Taichung City Agriculture Bureau, the Waipu District Farmers' Association organized the 'Taichung City Domestic Longan Honey Quality Evaluation' to promote premium honey. Today, at the atrium on the first floor of the City Hall's Wenxin Building, the 'Taichung Leads, Bee Flowers Bloom – Taichung Fenghua Domestic Honey and Agricultural Specialty Products Marketing Press Conference' was held, featuring an awards ceremony and honey tasting session to recommend high-quality domestic honey to the public.
Taichung City Agriculture Bureau Director Li Yi-an stated that the city's beekeeping industry is concentrated in eight districts: Dali, Taiping, Waipu, Wufeng, Beitun, Houli, Heping, and Fengyuan. Annual honey production reaches 1,600 metric tons, with an annual output value of up to NT$400 million. With guidance from farmers' associations, beekeeping production and marketing groups have been established. 'Taichung Fenghua' honey is carefully selected from honey produced by local beekeepers.
Director Li pointed out that this year's 'Taichung Fenghua' domestic honey competition required all entries to meet CNS1305 national standards. After strict expert evaluation, 25 beekeepers were honored for providing high-quality domestic honey. From the 22nd to the 23rd, a 'Taichung Fenghua' domestic honey and agricultural specialty products marketing event will be held at the Banqiao District Farmers' Association in New Taipei City to promote domestic honey and seasonal premium agricultural products.
The Agriculture Bureau explained that through the 'Taichung Fenghua' brand marketing, years of guidance have stabilized honey quality. This year, due to poor flowering conditions for lychee and longan trees, honey collection by bees decreased, resulting in a production drop of about 40% compared to last year. To protect consumers, prices remain unchanged.
