(CNA reporter Tsao Ya-Yen, Hsin-Tien, New Taipei City, July 14) A workplace safety incident occurred today at Kuang-Shen Hospital in New Taipei City, where a worker was found collapsed on the rooftop water tank platform with no vital signs and later pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The hospital expressed deep regret over the incident and pledged full cooperation with relevant authorities to investigate and clarify the cause.
The Hsin-Tien District Police Station of the New Taipei City Police Department received a report at around 8 p.m. today regarding an accident at Kuang-Shen Hospital in Hsin-Tien District. Upon arrival, officers learned that a night-shift maintenance staff member discovered mechanical abnormalities and went to inspect the rooftop water tank, where they found a male worker from the morning shift, identified as Mr. Huang, unconscious. Police immediately notified the fire department for assistance in extraction and called in the forensic team. Mr. Huang had no vital signs when transported to the hospital.
Mr. Huang, a morning-shift construction worker, was seen entering the office earlier in the afternoon. He was later found collapsed on the water tank platform for unknown reasons, with no evidence of falling into the water.
Kuang-Shen Hospital stated that immediately after the incident, the hospital activated its emergency medical response, with the emergency and medical teams making every effort to save the worker. However, due to the severity of his condition, he was pronounced dead at around 9 p.m.
The hospital expressed profound regret over the incident and extended sincere condolences to the family, pledging necessary support. It will fully cooperate with labor inspection agencies and judicial authorities to determine the cause of the accident.
