(Central News Agency reporter Liao Wen-chi, Shanghai, 14th) Li Wei-hua, Chair of the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) Central Evaluation Committee, led a delegation to Shanghai today, with their first stop being the Yangshan Deep-Water Port. Li stated that the construction experience of Yangshan Port could serve as an excellent starting point for cross-strait exchanges, expressing hope for identifying opportunities where both sides can assist and learn from each other.

On the morning of the 14th, Li Wei-hua brought three party staff members and five members of the Taiwan People's Party Youth团 to Shanghai, commencing a four-day, three-night visit. This marks the first official delegation sent by the TPP to mainland China since the party's establishment.

Upon arrival in Shanghai, the delegation's first stop was the Yangshan Deep-Water Port, where they learned about the port's automated operations and observed terminal operations. Li Wei-hua remarked that Yangshan Port demonstrates how a port system supports international trade and global supply chains through advanced technology, unmanned equipment, digital management, and efficient scheduling.

He added that Taiwan, as an island economy highly dependent on import and export trade, is directly affected in terms of industrial competitiveness and people's livelihoods by the smoothness of port operations, the speed of cargo circulation, and the resilience of supply chains. "Therefore, the construction experience of Yangshan Port can serve as a very good starting point for exchange."

Li said that if mainland China is willing to generously share its experience in unmanned terminals, intelligent scheduling, and port management, and if Taiwan can adopt an open attitude to learn, practical exchanges on port operations, logistics efficiency, low-carbon transformation, and industrial connectivity could create more space for cooperation and mutual understanding on concrete issues.

Yangshan Port is a common destination for many Taiwanese political figures visiting Shanghai. Former President Ma Ying-jeou, KMT Chairperson Cheng Li-chun, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, and former Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je have all previously visited the port.

Yangshan Port claims to be the world's largest single automated container terminal with the highest level of integrated intelligence, using Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) for intra-port transportation, with containers digitally controlled and placed in designated positions.
