TAOYUAN, Taiwan (Central News Agency) — In response to Typhoon Bavi's passage, the Taoyuan City Government Environmental Protection Bureau conducted post-storm inspections at nine water treatment plants supplying drinking water to the city. After heavy rainfall, concerns arose about increased water turbidity. The bureau tested turbidity and residual chlorine levels at all supply points and confirmed they met national drinking water standards, indicating stable water quality and normal water supply operations.

The bureau announced today that inspections were carried out at the following nine supply points: Fuxing Water Treatment Plant, Daxi Water Treatment Plant, Danan Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant, Danan Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant, Danan Phase 3 Water Treatment Plant, Shimen Water Treatment Plant, Longtan Water Treatment Plant, Pingzhen Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant, and Pingzhen Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant. All showed normal turbidity levels within drinking water quality standards, with pH and residual chlorine also meeting regulatory requirements.

The bureau reminded the public to boil tap water before drinking. If concerned about chlorine taste or odor, it is recommended to boil the water, then uncover and continue boiling for an additional 3 to 5 minutes to dissipate the disinfection smell. For those using natural spring or well water, boiling before consumption is essential. Households with flooded water storage tanks should first drain the tanks completely, clean and disinfect them thoroughly before refilling for use.

Residents using non-tap drinking water sources can apply for water quality testing through the 'Taoyuan City Non-Piped Water Source Quality Testing Application Service Platform.' Upon receiving an application, the Environmental Protection Bureau will arrange for professional testing companies to collect water samples at the residence and conduct analysis. More information is available on the Taoyuan City Government Environmental Protection Bureau's official website. (Edited by Lin Shu-Hui) 1150714
