(Taipei, April 15 — Reporter Wang Cheng-chung) Legislative Yuan Vice President Chiang Chih-chien attended the opening ceremony of the 33rd annual meeting and the third joint council and supervisory board meeting of the 'Asia Taiwan Chamber of Commerce General Association' today. He stated that Taiwanese businesses, no matter where they are located, always maintain strong ties to Taiwan, serving as the Republic of China's most powerful economic and trade ambassadors and strongest diplomatic support. Support for overseas Taiwanese businesses represents the greatest consensus within the Legislative Yuan.

Vice President Chiang was invited to attend the opening ceremony this morning in Taichung. Distinguished guests in attendance included Premier Cho Jung-tai, Overseas Compatriot Affairs Council Chairperson Hsu Chia-ching, Minister of Labor Hung Shen-han, Taichung Mayor Lu Hsiu-yen, General Association President Chen Shu-chin, and representatives of Taiwanese business communities from around the world.

In his speech, Chiang, serving as the president of the 'Legislative Yuan Friends of World Taiwanese Entrepreneurs Association,' said that over the past two years, he has frequently participated in overseas Taiwanese chamber events and regularly received visiting entrepreneurs at the Legislative Yuan. Reuniting in his hometown of Taichung holds special significance and deep personal resonance.

Chiang emphasized that Taiwanese entrepreneurs, while deeply rooted in their local operations, consistently maintain strong emotional and economic ties to Taiwan, acting as the Republic of China's most effective economic envoys and most steadfast diplomatic allies.

He praised the Asia General Association for its extensive presence across 20 countries and regions in Asia, noting that it not only strengthens cohesion among overseas Chinese communities but also solidifies Taiwan's critical position in Asia's industrial landscape. Furthermore, it assists the government in expanding international relations, fostering ties with countries that surpass formal diplomatic relationships.

Chiang expressed gratitude that the General Association chose Taichung as the host city. He highlighted Taichung's comprehensive sea, land, and air transportation networks and the recent establishment of international flight routes to major Asian countries and cities, greatly enhancing business mobility for Taiwanese entrepreneurs. Moreover, Taichung and central Taiwan's robust manufacturing clusters, strong capital flows, and high quality of life make the city a strategic hub for Taiwanese businesses to deepen their roots in Taiwan, connect with global markets, and expand future business opportunities.

Chiang stressed that while political parties in the Legislative Yuan often hold differing views on many issues, support for overseas Taiwanese businesses remains the largest area of consensus. He commended President Chen Shu-chin's outstanding leadership, reiterated appreciation for the contributions of Taiwanese entrepreneurs to Taiwan, and extended best wishes for the successful conclusion of the conference.
