(CNA, Moscow, 14th – comprehensive international news) Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that over the past 24 hours, a total of 340 Ukrainian drones flew toward the Moscow metropolitan area, with the majority shot down by air defense units at a distance from the city.
According to Reuters, Sobyanin posted on Telegram: "Most drones were intercepted by air defense forces at the outer defensive perimeter. Over 50 enemy drones were destroyed while en route to Moscow."
Ukrainian drones frequently approach Russia's capital, and Sobyanin has consistently reported the number of drones shot down by air defense units.
Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russian infrastructure, primarily targeting facilities linked to the oil industry.
The Ukrainian military announced today that it conducted drone strikes on the Salavat petrochemical complex in the Ural Mountains and the Afipsky oil refinery in southern Russia. Attacks on oil infrastructure have exacerbated gasoline shortages across various regions of Russia.
Russian forces have intensified drone and missile attacks on Kyiv over recent weeks.
Early this morning, Russia launched a large number of drones and ballistic missiles toward Kyiv, marking the fifth such attack on the Ukrainian capital this month.
