(Central News Agency reporter Yu Kai-xiang, Taipei, July 15) The Fourth Operational Area, responsible for defense and disaster response in southern Taiwan, announced today that the 564th Combined Arms Brigade carried out a joint ground defense airlift mission yesterday according to operational progress. The Aviation Special Operations Command (ASOC) deployed CH-47SD Chinook transport helicopters to conduct aerial troop insertion, verifying the unit's rapid mobility and battlefield responsiveness while enhancing inter-branch operational effectiveness.

The five-day Joint Defense Exercise entered its third day today. Unlike the Immediate Readiness Exercise held in June—which focused on enemy pre-launch detection, initial military preparedness, and transition from peacetime to wartime—the Joint Defense Exercise simulates scenarios where enemy forces are detected launching attacks and entering territorial waters. The exercise emphasizes integrated operations across all military branches, focusing on decentralized execution of the kill chain, validating decentralized command and control (C2), and implementing Rules of Engagement (ROE).

The Fourth Operational Area stated in a morning press release that the 564th Combined Arms Brigade executed a joint ground defense airlift mission according to operational timelines, with the ASOC deploying CH-47SD Chinook transport helicopters for aerial troop deployment. This operation verified the unit's rapid mobility and battlefield adaptability, strengthening inter-branch joint operational efficiency.

According to the Fourth Operational Area, during the exercise, troops completed equipment preparation and boarding before being transported via CH-47SD helicopters to designated areas. The entire operation was conducted in a 'real troops, real terrain, real-time, real equipment, real execution' manner, demonstrating rapid deployment, troop mobility, and mission execution capabilities. Additionally, the 43rd Artillery Command deployed Thunder 2000 multiple rocket launchers in the Qishan area of Kaohsiung to simulate fire suppression against invading enemy forces.

The Fourth Operational Area emphasized that through the Joint Defense Exercise, personnel become familiar with battlefield environments and mission procedures. It also verifies rapid troop mobility and deployment capabilities, enhancing overall defensive operational effectiveness and ensuring smooth mission execution. (Edited by Su Long-qi) 1150715
