Around 9:25 a.m., the weighted index reached 45,096 points, down 534 points, or 1.17%, with trading volume reaching NT$242.6 billion.
Among heavyweight stocks, TSMC dipped to a morning low of NT$2,425, down NT$15; Delta Electronics fell NT$70 to NT$1,820; and Hon Hai hovered around NT$240, up NT$1.
