Former U.S. President Donald Trump today emphasized that the United States maintains substantial ammunition reserves, and vowed to pursue legal accountability against individuals spreading claims of American ammunition shortages.

In a post on his social media platform 'Truth Social,' Trump criticized media reports suggesting dwindling U.S. weapons stockpiles, stating that America has 'massive amounts of "ammunition," especially certain types of ammunition'—though he did not elaborate on specifics.

He added: 'Additionally, massive quantities of ammunition are being manufactured and shipped to the U.S. as needed. Defense companies are building factories on a scale unprecedented in our nation’s history.'

Earlier, The Washington Post reported that on January 31, Trump convened a cabinet meeting at Camp David, the presidential retreat, where he asked Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to brief him on the ammunition shortage issue.

Citing two anonymous sources, the newspaper claimed Trump told Hegseth he had previously believed the ammunition problem was 'already solved.'

However, Trump sharply rejected these reports today, accusing officials of leaking what he called 'treasonous' statements. He stated that authorities are investigating the source of the leaks and promised to seek long prison sentences for those responsible. (Compiled by Hung Pei-Ying)
