TSMC surges NT$105, Taiwan stocks rise over 1300 points to break 46300

(CNA) Major US stock indices closed higher on the 29th, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index, highly correlated with Taiwan stocks, rising 506.09 points, or 3.83%. The Taiwan Stock Exchange Capitalization Weighted Stock Index futures rose 805 points overnight. Taiwan stocks also moved higher today, rising over 1300 points in early trading, surpassing the 5-day and monthly moving averages, and breaking 46300 points.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) surged 5.26%. TSMC's stock price also strengthened today, climbing to NT$2475 in early trading, an increase of NT$105, with its market capitalization reaching NT$64.18 trillion, contributing approximately 834 points to the broader market.
