(CNA) - The Keelung District Prosecutors Office is investigating a case of illegally reselling servers equipped with Nvidia's high-end chips to mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau. Searches were conducted at Super Micro's Taiwan Asia-Pacific headquarters, Qun-Yuan Technology, and CHT Cloud, and six individuals were summoned for questioning. Super Micro (Supermicro) issued a statement today clarifying that its Taiwan office was not searched by any government agency and that the events this week highlight Supermicro's ongoing cooperation with Taiwanese authorities.

In the statement, Super Micro's Revenue Manager Matt Thauberger said that relevant authorities have confirmed that Supermicro is not the primary target of this incident. In fact, Supermicro has been providing necessary information to Taiwanese authorities for several months and actively cooperating with investigative actions to facilitate the progress of the case.

Thauberger pointed out that on June 29, four Supermicro employees in Taiwan were subjected to detention requests and interrogations by Taiwanese authorities regarding a product sale by Supermicro to a Taiwanese technology company and its investigation. Supermicro proactively cooperated with the authorities, assisting in providing access to the office facilities and electronic devices of the aforementioned employees.

Of the four Supermicro employees, two are currently detained awaiting further proceedings, while the other two have been granted bail.

Thauberger stated that Supermicro has a zero-tolerance policy for any behavior that violates laws or company policies and has immediately placed the aforementioned four employees on administrative leave until the Taiwanese investigation is completed, to take subsequent appropriate measures.

Thauberger said that this investigation is ongoing, and Supermicro has not yet grasped the full picture of the incident. However, this incident will absolutely not affect the products and services provided by Supermicro. Supermicro's team remains fully focused on daily operations, continuing to provide the highest performance, most reliable data center infrastructure solutions, and innovative technologies that are first to market and online.

He further pointed out that Supermicro is committed to protecting U.S. interests, as well as the company's advanced technology and intellectual property, for the benefit of its customers, partners, the company, and the entire industry. Managing complex global supply chains and multi-tiered operating and sales systems is an industry-level challenge, and Supermicro maintains a robust compliance system.

Thauberger stated that as part of the industry, Supermicro continuously works closely with government authorities, external professional consultants, and other stakeholders to strengthen various protective measures and prevent the illegal transfer of technology, in order to respond to evolving threats and industry risks.
