(CNA Reporter, Washington, 17th) US President Donald Trump stated today that Chinese President Xi Jinping is "happy" that the Strait of Hormuz has reopened, and added that he looks forward to meeting Xi in China.

According to combined reports from Reuters and AFP, Trump posted on his social media platform "Truth Social": "President Xi is very happy that the Strait of Hormuz is open and/or quickly opening. Our meeting in China will be a special, perhaps even historic, discussion. I look forward to meeting with President Xi. Many things will be accomplished."

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi earlier announced that, in conjunction with the Lebanon ceasefire, the Strait of Hormuz will be "fully open" to commercial oil tankers and cargo ships during the ceasefire. Trump welcomed this development.
