(Central News Agency, Sydney, 19th) Robyn Cahill, the Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations of Australia's Northern Territory, issued a statement today announcing that a delegation she is leading has commenced a visit to Taiwan to deepen bilateral cooperation, as many countries worldwide seek to strengthen and diversify their trade partnerships. The statement emphasized that Taiwan is the Northern Territory's (NT) most important, trustworthy, and competitive trading partner. The statement mentioned that during the visit, the delegation will meet with Taiwanese companies and investors interested in investing in the Northern Territory's data centers, advanced manufacturing, and liquefied natural gas sectors. Additionally, they will participate in government-to-government exchange activities and events with various Taiwanese industry chambers of commerce. The statement pointed out that Taiwan is the NT's third-largest export market, with exports amounting to US$1.9 billion (approximately NT$60.2 billion). The delegation will promote investment opportunities in the energy, critical minerals, and digital industries. Cahill stated that the Northern Territory is committed to strengthening and diversifying its trade partnerships. She said, "We (the Northern Territory) have the energy, minerals, land, and geographical proximity to Asia that our partners need." Cahill added, "The purpose of this mission is to show Taiwanese investors that the Northern Territory not only welcomes investment but can also offer them the opportunities they dream of." The statement also noted that the Northern Territory is rich in lithium, rare earths, graphite, copper, and cobalt, which are key raw materials for electric vehicles, battery technology, and advanced manufacturing. The Beetaloo Basin, located southeast of the NT capital, Darwin, is one of Australia's most significant and historic natural gas resources, offering opportunities for exploration, development, and long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) procurement agreements. Furthermore, the NT's proximity to Asia allows for connections to international submarine cables, giving it the potential to develop artificial intelligence data centers.
