Premier Cho: Minimum Wage Likely to Exceed NT$30,000 Next Year, Pay Raise for Military, Civil Servants, and Teachers Under Consideration

(CNA, Taipei, May 19, by reporters Kao Hua-chien and Lai Yu-chen) Premier Cho Jung-tai said today that the minimum wage is expected to exceed New Taiwan Dollar (NT$) 30,000 next year. He added that to thank laborers, military personnel, civil servants, and public school teachers for their long-term dedication and contributions, a pay raise for the military, civil servants, and teachers will be considered and planned under this premise and principle. After due process, he hopes to meet societal expectations and make the lives of both public sector employees and laborers more stable. President Lai Ching-te marks the second anniversary of his May 20 inauguration this year. Premier Cho, Vice Premier Cheng Li-chun, and Secretary-General Chang Tun-han attended the Executive Yuan's May 20 press conference this morning to explain the cabinet team's administrative achievements over the past year and to outline major policies for future promotion.
