Yunlin's 'Micro Reading Corner' Blends Literature and Cuisine to Showcase Local Flavor

(CNA, Yunlin County, May 20, by reporter Chiang Yi-ching) Yunlin County's 'Micro Reading Corner' event series this year focuses on 'Literature × Food' as its curatorial core, featuring a total of 7 events connecting local ingredients, unique venues, local shops, and literary reading. The series aims to extend reading from the page to the dining table and daily life, creating an immersive cultural experience. The Yunlin County Cultural Affairs and Tourism Department held a launch press conference today for the 'Micro Reading Food Time, Flavorful Yunlin' event. Inspired by the classical 'winding stream party' (Qushui Liushang), the event began with the sounds of the guzheng and erhu. Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan and representatives from 'Micro Reading' shops for each session took turns reading literary golden phrases symbolizing Yunlin's local character, demonstrating the event's spirit of 'literature adding flavor, local customs becoming scenery.' Chang Li-shan stated that this 'Micro Reading Food Time Stroll' extends book reading to actual venues and local delicacies. She hopes people will not just read texts but also walk through and taste Yunlin, allowing them to deeply feel the charm of Yunlin life and local warmth through sight, smell, taste, hearing, and touch. Hsieh Ming-hsuan, Director of the Yunlin County Cultural Affairs and Tourism Department, pointed out that the 'Micro Reading Food Time Stroll' is not just a reading promotion activity but a deep dialogue between culture and life. Through different venues and thematic designs, it will lead people to rediscover Yunlin's cultural landscape and human touch, creating a reading brand unique to Yunlin. The Department explained that the 2026 'Micro Reading Food Time Stroll' is divided into two main series: the 'Micro Reading Chef's Lab' and the 'Food Literature Salon.' The 'Micro Reading Chef's Lab' will bring reading into unique venues, combining local ingredients, shop creativity, food and agriculture education, and literary texts, allowing people to experience the local terroir between dishes and stories.
