TPVL Admits Insufficient Schedule Planning, Apologizes Again to Fans

Taipei, May 21 (CNA) The Taiwan Professional Volleyball League (TPVL) today issued another statement of apology, admitting that its evaluation of the season's length and subsequent changes was not thorough enough. This comes after key players from Taichung Lienchuang and TSG Hawks were called up for national team duties, making them unable to compete in the playoffs. According to FIVB regulations, players called up for national teams must report by May 17. This means Lienchuang will be without foreign stars Voeurn Veasna and Khangal Tamiraa, and captain Chang Yun-liang, significantly impacting the playoff's excitement. The league explained that its inaugural year faced numerous scheduling challenges, including venue shortages in March and April due to major student volleyball events. To ensure a complete season, TPVL extended the schedule after discussions with teams and obtained FIVB approval to extend the season until June 2. However, TPVL admitted it failed to adequately anticipate and avoid conflicts with international competition periods. The league acknowledged its responsibility for the impact of these roster changes and pledged to learn from this experience, promising more comprehensive evaluation and communication mechanisms for future season planning and international event coordination.
