Central News Agency, Changhua, May 22. Around noon today, a car on the southbound section of National Highway 3 near Kuaiguan lost control, hit the inner guardrail, and collided with a trailer. The driver and passenger of the car were injured and taken to the hospital. Traffic was backed up for about 1 kilometer. The Seventh Highway Police Brigade of the National Highway Police Bureau stated that at approximately 11:55 AM, a 78-year-old man surnamed Lai was driving his car at the 202km mark of the southbound lane when he allegedly lost control due to improper operation, hitting the guardrail and then colliding with a trailer in the middle lane. Because the car was severely deformed, the driver and passenger were trapped. The Changhua County Fire Bureau dispatched personnel to the scene, used rescue equipment to extract the two, and sent them to the hospital. Police stated that the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation and urged the public to maintain safe speeds, pay attention to road conditions, and ensure proper vehicle control to avoid accidents and protect themselves and others.
