According to the Central News Agency, passive component distributor NIC Components held a shareholders' meeting on the 22nd to conduct a by-election for one board seat. NIC announced in the afternoon that Cheng Wen-tsung, Chairman of major shareholder and electronic component distributor WT Microelectronics, was elected. Former NIC Chairman Chou Wei-ling and Vice Chairman Li Kun-tsang resigned, and NIC convened an extraordinary board meeting to elect Cheng as the new chairman. No new vice chairman will be appointed. NIC noted that Chou and Li will retain their positions as directors. In mid-July 2025, NIC and WT announced a deepening of their strategic cooperation through a share swap. According to the annual report, as of March this year, NIC held a 4.6% stake in WT, while WT held a 35.47% stake in NIC, with WT remaining the largest shareholder. NIC previously explained that as a Taiwanese passive component distributor with minimal product overlap with WT, the share swap alliance would deepen their cooperation, expanding their footprint beyond Taiwan and mainland China into Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, and the US.
