(CNA, Taipei, May 22) The Taiwan People's Party (TPP) has recently faced a wave of resignations. Party Chair Huang Kuo-chang posted on Facebook this evening, stating that he is very sorry for the recent internal turmoil that has caused concern among supporters, and that he takes full responsibility. He promised to continue to reflect and improve so as not to cause further worry. TPP founder Ko Wen-je commented: "Leading a party is difficult, but for the sake of the TPP and Taiwan society, please hold on and keep working hard." Huang apologized to party members and supporters, stating that as party chair, he cannot shirk his responsibility. He also expressed gratitude and guilt toward Secretary-General Chou Yu-hsiu and the party staff, who are working under immense pressure. Huang stated that he is more anxious than anyone regarding the 2026 local elections, as he has a responsibility to ensure that excellent TPP nominees can serve the grassroots. He pointed out that the goal of rooting the TPP's "third way" in local politics far outweighs his personal political future. Huang said he knows the road ahead is difficult, but the TPP will not give up. He thanked musician Zhu Kang for his work "Bearing," which he said expressed everything he wanted to say, and concluded that they will continue to work hard tomorrow.
