Central News Agency, Taipei, May 22. A Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) local train struck stones placed on the tracks by minors between Dajia and Rinan today. The TRA urges the public not to place items on tracks to avoid legal consequences and liability for damages. The Railway Police Bureau stated the case will be referred to the Taichung District Court's juvenile division. The TRA reported that train 2540 hit an unknown object at 3:21 PM. After inspection, it arrived at Yuanli Station at 3:44 PM. Due to evidence collection, it arrived at Zhunan Station with a 29-minute delay. Police identified two minors involved. The case is being handled under public endangerment charges.
