TAIPEI, May 22 (CNA) - CTBC Brothers foreign pitcher Nick Nelson was scheduled to return to the first-team rotation this week, but is undergoing an examination due to elbow discomfort. Pitching coach Wang Chien-ming stated that the team is waiting for the medical report to determine the timeline for his return. Meanwhile, another foreign pitcher, Felix Pena, continues to prepare in the minor leagues.

Nelson was sent to the minor leagues on May 3 for adjustments and was slated to return on May 20, but the sudden discomfort required an exam. Coach Wang noted that initial assessments suggest a two-week period without throwing, with a total recovery and adjustment time of about a month. The team is awaiting the final report and may discuss roster changes if Nelson's recovery takes too long.

Felix Pena, who joined in late April, has made four appearances in the minor leagues and is scheduled to pitch again on May 27. Coach Wang clarified that Pena's signing was intended to stabilize the starting rotation and was not related to Nelson's condition.
