As of now, 8 deaths have been confirmed, and 38 people remain missing underground, with rescue efforts ongoing. According to state media Xinhua, the accident occurred at 7:29 PM on the 22nd at the Liushenyu Coal Mine, operated by the Tongzhou Group. At the time of the accident, 247 workers were operating underground. By 6:00 AM on the 23rd, 201 workers had safely evacuated, while 8 fatalities were confirmed. Rescue operations for the remaining 38 individuals are being carried out with full effort, and the cause of the accident is under further investigation.
