'Opening the Mountains' Book Documents the Journey of Malaysian Students in Taiwan

More than 130,000 students from Malaysia have studied in Taiwan, spreading across political, economic, cultural, and professional fields. The Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities, Malaysia, held a book launch today for "Opening the Mountains: The Malaysian Taiwan-Alumni Community and Nation Building," which documents how these students formed a cross-generational and cross-disciplinary community, becoming a vital bridge for Taiwan-Malaysia relations. Minister of the Overseas Community Affairs Council, Hsu Chia-ching, noted in the preface that these alumni are a unique presence in Malaysian society, demonstrating the flexibility and resilience fostered by Taiwan's higher education. Federation President Peng Ching-ho stated that after returning to Malaysia, these alumni have long been involved in economic, educational, cultural, medical, and public affairs, forming an influential network. Representative Phoebe Yeh of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia remarked that these alumni possess a deep affection for Taiwan, which has become a lasting spiritual imprint and a human link between the two regions.
