Shen Po-yang: Urban Vision Requires 'Ecosystem' Planning, Not Just Isolated Projects

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Po-yang stated that an urban vision should be a comprehensive plan for the future, not just based on projects like the Taipei Dome. Regarding the goal of making Taipei a top-10 global AI city by 2035, he argued that clear standards are needed, and he advocates for an "ecosystem" approach. Shen cited NVIDIA's entry into the Beitou-Shilin Technology Park (Beishike) as an example, arguing it should be planned as a national-level think tank, considering investment, employment, and infrastructure like power supply. He emphasized that urban planning should not be one-dimensional but should integrate housing, transportation, and talent density to form a complete ecosystem. When asked about accessibility, Shen noted that Taipei's current routes for wheelchair users are fragmented and promised to include inclusive facilities in his future municipal vision. He contrasted his approach with Mayor Chiang Wan-an's, calling for more concrete metrics and holistic planning.
