Wang Wentao Meets US Deputy Trade Representative, Urges Finalization of Trade Negotiation Details

China's Ministry of Commerce announced today that Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with US Deputy Trade Representative Rick Switzer in Suzhou. Wang stated that both sides should follow the consensus reached during the Trump-Xi summit to finalize the details of trade negotiations and implement them. Wang expressed China's willingness to strengthen communication and expand cooperation to contribute to a constructive and strategically stable relationship. Switzer described the Trump-China visit as highly successful and noted that both sides are in intensive consultations to reach an agreement. However, according to Reuters, US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer stated that the US government's stance on semiconductor tariffs remains unchanged following the summit, and the administration continues to evaluate the policy, including measures to mitigate impacts on chip manufacturers operating in the US.
