Taichung bus driver Chen Tzu-cheng recently received a report from passengers that someone on his bus was feeling unwell while driving from Qingshui to Taichung Station. After ensuring safety, he took the initiative to carry the passenger to a clinic for medical attention. This kind act has been specially praised by the public. The Taichung City Transportation Bureau explained in a press release today that around 2:00 PM on the 11th, a passenger took the Taichung Bus 500 extension route from Qingshui to Taichung Station. When the bus passed near the Shuinan station, a female passenger appeared very weak, and other passengers alerted the driver, Chen Tzu-cheng. After assessing the surrounding traffic and stopping environment, Chen chose to stop at a location suitable for temporary parking near a clinic and carried the passenger to the clinic in front of the bus stop for treatment. Other passengers on the bus not only did not complain about the wait but praised the driver for being enthusiastic and attentive, deeply moved by his quick-witted help. Some even wrote to the "1999" hotline, hoping that this kindness would be seen by more people. Taichung City Transportation Bureau Director Yeh Chao-fu stated that bus drivers are responsible for driving safety and often face various emergencies. Chen's ability to respond calmly to a passenger's illness, report it according to regulations, and take the initiative to assist demonstrates the sense of responsibility and empathy of the public transport service industry. Taichung Bus will commend him and award a bonus to encourage such excellent service. Taichung Bus pointed out that the 500 extension route runs from Santian Elementary School in Qingshui District to Taichung Railway Station. Chen is familiar with the roads and surrounding environment along the line and quickly judged the best location to assist the passenger. He only felt relieved after confirming the passenger was safe. Taichung Bus stated that Chen has won the "Golden Transport Award" for caring drivers, patiently assisting wheelchair passengers, and even having passengers with limited mobility wait for his bus shifts, showing that his service is deeply rooted in people's hearts. He also often uses English to assist foreign tourists with information on attractions and transportation, showing great service enthusiasm.
