A fatal accident involving an employee at an escape room in Taipei has sparked controversy. City Councilor Chien Shu-pei stated today that despite the central government having issued relevant safety guidelines, the Taipei City Government failed to conduct inspections according to regulations, and she intends to file an impeachment request with the Control Yuan. The Department of Urban Development stated that relevant units have conducted public safety inspections according to their authority. During a session at the Taipei City Council today, DPP Councilor Chien Shu-pei pointed out that since the incident on the 10th, the Taipei City Government and department heads have been shifting responsibility. She also criticized Mayor Chiang Wan-an for blaming the central government for a lack of a unified management system. Chien noted that while the Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs claimed to have pioneered its own safety guidelines, the content is highly similar to the 'Safety Guidelines for Interactive Experience Venues' issued by the National Fire Agency in 2017. She questioned why the city government never inspected venues based on these guidelines. She argued that the city is ignoring existing regulations while claiming to be innovative, and that the inspections conducted after the tragedy were merely superficial. She plans to submit relevant data to the Control Yuan and demand impeachment. The Department of Urban Development stated that they have been conducting comprehensive public safety inspections.
