The Taipei City Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division announced on the 25th that it launched a 'Strengthened Crackdown on Drug-Impaired Driving and Drug Sources' project yesterday. The operation mobilized 500 officers and resulted in 19 drug-related cases, including 7 cases of drug-impaired driving. Executive Yuan spokesperson Li Hui-chih stated that Premier Cho Jung-tai believes current legal regulations are insufficient and has instructed the Ministry of Justice to conduct a comprehensive review. Police Chief Lin Yen-tien announced that the project will be fully implemented through the end of August, enhancing professional enforcement capabilities, including the use of saliva testing tools. The Zhongzheng First Precinct is also conducting intensive regional roadblocks to intercept suspected drug-impaired drivers.
