High School Student Drowns at Wutai Waterfall in Pingtung

On the 25th, a 17-year-old high school student drowned while visiting Wutai Waterfall in Pingtung County with a group of five friends. The Pingtung County Fire Department received a report at 4:53 PM that a tourist had drowned and immediately dispatched 14 rescue personnel to the scene. The rescue team arrived at the waterfall about 30 minutes later and managed to pull the student from the water, but he was already without vital signs. He was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. According to police, the five students were middle school classmates who had traveled from Kaohsiung to visit the waterfall. The victim, surnamed Wu, is currently under emergency care, and the exact cause of the accident is still being investigated.
