Handmade Vietnamese Conical Hat Ornaments: Immigration Agency Hosts Workshop for New Resident Couples

Central News Agency, Taichung, May 25. The National Immigration Agency's (NIA) Taichung First Service Center recently held a family workshop. Beyond introducing resources related to 'Long-term Care 2.0,' the center invited a Vietnamese new resident instructor to share her personal journey of adapting to life in Taiwan. The event also allowed participating couples to craft Vietnamese conical hat (Non La) ornaments, serving as a reminder to support one another. The NIA Taichung First Service Center issued a press release today stating that, in response to the aging society, it held a family workshop yesterday, inviting the Nantun District Health Center to introduce the Long-term Care 2.0 system, including service content, application procedures, and common care needs. Furthermore, the event featured Nguyen Phuong Nghi, a new resident cultural instructor from Vietnam, who shared her experience of adapting to Taiwan. From initial language barriers to now being able to share her native culture, she expressed gratitude for the support of her husband and family, which allowed her to learn comfortably in Taiwan. Nguyen also prepared a DIY session for Vietnamese conical hat ornaments. From selecting materials to decorating details, participating couples discussed and crafted the items together, happily showcasing their finished works. Nguyen noted, 'Couples are each other's safe harbor and protective umbrella. The small conical hat ornament is not just a decoration; it carries cultural significance and warm blessings, reminding couples to support each other.' Wang Chi, Director of the NIA Taichung First Service Center, stated, 'Family education workshops are not just for knowledge transfer; they are important platforms for emotional and cultural exchange. Through diverse courses, we hope new residents can understand Taiwan's systems and welfare resources while maintaining confidence in their own cultural identity.'
