Chow Chow Abandoned; Chiayi County Livestock Disease Control Institute Fines Owner 110,000 NTD

According to the Central News Agency, the Chiayi County Livestock Disease Control Institute recently rescued a Chow Chow trapped in a drainage ditch in Minxiong Township. The dog was registered, and the owner, a man surnamed Chang from Changhua County, was notified to retrieve it. After he failed to respond, the abandonment was confirmed. The Institute stated that in addition to abandonment, the dog had not been spayed/neutered or vaccinated against rabies. Consequently, the owner was fined 110,000 NTD under the Animal Protection Act and the Statute for Prevention and Control of Infectious Animal Diseases. The owner has also been blacklisted from adopting animals nationwide.
